GIRLS WITH AUTISM VS BOYS WITH AUTISM

What it means

A split-screen video compares a girl with autism gracefully performing expressive, almost theatrical movements in a dress with boys with autism, who are shown awkwardly sneaking or crawling through an outdoor courtyard in dark clothing. The joke is an exaggerated stereotype contrast between polished, artistic behavior and chaotic, strangely mission-like behavior. The clip is often sent as an absurd reaction to contrasting social behavior, with The Oh Hellos’ dramatic indie-folk song “Soldier, Poet, King” making both sides feel comically epic.
