Bear Attack News Makes Them Laugh
California: Woman found dead in mountains was victim of state's first fatal bear attack
A Sky News-style headline about a fatal bear attack is overlaid on alternating close-ups of Frodo looking serious and Bilbo breaking into delighted laughter. The dark news story becomes absurd because the characters react as if the headline is hilarious; it works as a reaction to unexpectedly funny or inappropriate news. The clip is accompanied by an animal-like sound and laughter, which heighten the contrast between the grim headline and the cheerful reaction.
