Me and My Girlfriend Before Medicine

Text on the meme

ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND WENT FOR A WALK ONE LAST TIME BEFORE THE DOCTOR TOLD ME TO TAKE SOME MEDICINE

What it means

An animated girl in a red coat is composited into shaky nighttime street footage, happily dancing, running, and finally hugging someone outside a convenience store. The caption implies that she is the narrator's imaginary girlfriend, and that taking prescribed medicine will make this last romantic walk disappear. Metric’s “Lost Kitten,” an energetic, melancholy indie/electronic rock track, plays underneath and makes the delusional romance feel both euphoric and bittersweet.
