Oh My Goodness Gracious

oh my goodness gracious WOW! People live in blissful ignorance of the ugly, uncomfortable world around them, and to free oneself from this ignorance is to inexorably fall into despair. Yet, nevertheless, it is a necessary first step in growing up as a person. We create our own demons out of our fears and anxieties, but not only is fear vital for our survival, it is also a part of what makes us human, and so we must learn to simply live with them. Japan's cold and uncaring capitalist society destroys the soul of the individual by degrading people into tools and objects that must conform to the strict system that controls them, leaving them as sad and broken husks incapable of connecting with one another.

The meme contrasts a shocked reaction to an exaggerated anime image with a dense, pseudo-philosophical essay about despair, fear, and capitalist society. The joke is the absurd mismatch between the provocative visual and the overly serious intellectual analysis, making it useful as a reaction to something unexpectedly disturbing or ridiculous.
