Bitcoin Banknote Gets Suspicious
Each note is printed with beautiful, currency-grade elements that use secure printing techniques typically reserved for government documents like microtext, raised print and foil. More importantly, each note includes a secure NFC chip where a multisig lives that allows you to claim the Bitcoin at any time. You contribute part of the entropy that lives in the multisig; the other part is encrypted. We never store any key material, but we do store the encryption key and release it to anyone who cuts the note. Additionally, each note has an expiration date. After that time “only” your user key can access funds. You can also re-key a note that you receive if you would like to keep it in cold storage.
A series of mock social-media posts describes a physical Bitcoin note with government-style printing, an NFC multisig chip, encrypted key material, and an expiration date. The increasingly elaborate security claims are presented as reassuring but sound absurd and suspicious, making the image a parody of crypto marketing and overly complicated financial products.
