It Is What It Is After Trauma

Text on the meme

me saying “It is what it is” after going through the most traumatic situation of my entire life

What it means

A badly injured man with bandages on his face stares ahead while the caption says he is calmly saying “It is what it is” after experiencing the most traumatic situation of his life. The joke contrasts extreme emotional or physical suffering with forced resignation, making it useful as a reaction to unbearable situations that someone pretends to accept stoically.
