American Psycho Misinterpreted

Text on the meme

Wow, a satire of the yuppie culture and how a society based on materialism is doomed. Wow, this film inspired me to start working out, dieting and take care of my skin. Killer looks. AMERICAN PSYCHO

What it means

The meme contrasts an intellectual interpretation of American Psycho as a satire of materialism with a viewer who simply takes Patrick Bateman’s appearance and grooming routine as inspiration. It jokes about missing the film’s message and idolizing its psychopathic protagonist for his looks and physique.
