American Psycho Misunderstood

Text on the meme

Wow, this film inspired me to start working out, dieting and take care of my skin. Wow, a satire of the yuppie culture and how a society based on materialism is doomed . Killer looks. A AMERICAN PSYCHO

What it means

A split meme contrasts a muscular Wojak enthusiastically misreading American Psycho as fitness and skincare inspiration with a serious interpretation of the film as a satire of yuppie culture and materialism. The joke is that the first reaction completely misses the movie’s dark critique while focusing on Patrick Bateman’s appearance.
