Your Dad Is Never Coming Home
When your dad is coming home , your dad went to the shop to buy some milk, its been 15 years and he hasn't come back. let set up a graph where the x axis represents how far your dad is from home ( Distance ) and the y axis represents the time until your dad gets home. Now one point of confusion for people doing this problem is that usually the x axis the on that defines time however in this case the y axis represents time because I am Asian and I get to make the math rules. the next step is to set up the equation . your dad left with 3 dollars and is going to obtain 1 L of milk which required 1 trip to the store which is 1$ distance away from your home so this means the equation is 3 for 3 dollars over X but realize X is negative that means y is also negative so and time cant be negative so the equation is the absolute value of 3 over X if we graph that out that looks like a slope in order to find out when your dad arrives home so we must take the limit as X approaches 0 of F x basically as the X value approaches to 0 what does the y value approach? As you can see on the graph the Y value or the time it takes your dad to get home reaches infinity the limit as X approaches 0 in respect to the equation to the absolute value of 3 over X is infinity. Your dad is never coming home. When is your dad coming home? I am Asian $3 milk y = time x = distance f(x) = |3/x| lim x→0 f(x) your dad is never coming home home grocery store
A long mock-mathematical explanation models a father’s distance from home and travel time after leaving to buy milk. The graph uses the absolute-value reciprocal function, showing time approaching infinity as distance approaches zero, so the punchline is that the dad is never coming home. It is a reaction to the classic “dad went out for milk and never returned” joke, exaggerated with pseudo-rigorous calculus.
