Mickey Mouse Public Domain Boat
HAPPY NEW YEAR JAN 1 OH BOY! TODAY I SHALL DO WHAT I WISH TO DO! AND HAVE ALWAYS WISHED TO DO! ALWAYS!
A four-panel Mickey Mouse comic celebrates January 1, when the early version of Mickey Mouse enters the public domain. Mickey first declares that he will finally do what he has always wanted, then appears in increasingly suggestive scenes before ending by fleeing across the water on a small boat while an angry crowd follows. The joke references the loss of Disney’s copyright protection and exaggerates it as Mickey immediately becoming dangerous or unruly.
