Would you like to give Litten a nickname?

What it means

A Pokémon game naming screen asks whether to give the black-and-red kitten Pokémon Litten a nickname, placed above a portrait of horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. The joke points to Lovecraft's notoriously racist name for his pet cat, making the innocent nickname prompt darkly uncomfortable. It is used as an edgy reaction to a seemingly harmless naming question with an infamous historical answer.
