23andMe Results for Trans People
23andme for trans people? I convinced my friend to take a 23andme dna test for fun (she was born male, but now identifies as female), and her results came back with a Y-DNA haplogroup and only one X chromosome. This was really problematic for her and made her feel uncomfortable. Does anyone know if 23andme makes any accommodations for trans people? Has anyone here had any experience with it?
A screenshot of a fake genealogy forum post asks whether 23andMe accommodates transgender users after a supposedly distressing DNA result. The absurd premise is that the test reveals a Y-DNA haplogroup and only one X chromosome, treating basic biological information as an unexpected customer-service problem; the dark, deadpan reaction image below emphasizes the joke.
