Cybersecurity Requests Backfire
We asked to look for a browser padlock, then Letsencrypt gave phishers free SSL. We asked not to click links and pop-ups, then GDPR made them do it anyway. We asked to update automatically, then Russians broke into Medoc & Solarwinds. And then we asked them to enable logging...
A tweet lists cybersecurity measures that supposedly produced the opposite results: free SSL helped phishers, GDPR worsened pop-ups, and automatic updates enabled major hacks. The punchline is the ominous unfinished request to enable logging, implying another disastrous consequence.
