It started out with a fish Ichthyostega 10 cm how did it end up like this IT WAS ONLY A FISH

The joke is that all of this enormous evolutionary diversity supposedly began with “only a fish,” making the result feel absurdly unexpected. It is used as a reaction to surprising consequences or complicated outcomes from a very simple beginning.
