Monkeyheimer Becomes Death

NOW I AM BECOME DEATH THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS MONKEYHEIMER

A dramatic black-and-white montage of monkeys wearing hats and staring intensely is intercut with a classroom scene, cosmic visuals, and a monkey being splashed with water. The captions parody Oppenheimer’s famous line by casting an ordinary monkey as “Monkeyheimer,” making the grand cinematic presentation absurdly over-serious. Christian Gaubert’s elegant, ominous classical soundtrack, “La leçon particulière” from the film soundtrack, heightens the mock-apocalyptic mood and makes the monkey footage feel hilariously monumental.

Now I am the coming death. The destroyer of worlds.
