Yeah, I Never Watch the Oscars
“Yeah, I never watch the Oscars” “Yeah, I never watch the Oscars” THE CRITERION CHANNEL Letterboxd A24 CINEPHILE TAXI DRIVER
A smiling ordinary man says he never watches the Oscars, contrasted with Patrick Bateman wearing an A24 shirt and surrounded by Criterion Channel, Letterboxd, cinephile, and Taxi Driver references. The joke is that the second person claims not to watch the Oscars while clearly performing an intensely film-obsessed, arthouse-cinema identity. It is used as a reaction to someone pretending to be casual about movies while signaling extreme cinephile credentials.
