Portuguese Versus British Colonizing
PORTUGUESE COLONIZING BRITISH “COLONIZING”
A two-panel comparison shows a Portuguese colonizer romantically embracing an Indigenous person, while a British colonizer stands armed on a pile of skulls beneath the Union Jack. The joke contrasts a supposedly gentler Portuguese colonial image with the stereotypically violent and imperial British approach, making it useful as a darkly satirical reaction to discussions of colonialism.
