Cats Survive the Night

A chaotic montage follows cats through the night and into the next afternoon: one dances at a computer, another appears in a video game, one attacks a cabbage, another naps with a knife, and the final cats are surrounded by soda, pizza, a phone, and a game controller. The joke is the absurd progression of staying up all night, getting increasingly sleep-deprived and unhinged, then still gaming the next day. The clip uses Surf Curse’s “Freaks,” an alternative/indie rock song, whose melancholic, energetic mood makes the cats’ escalating late-night chaos feel dramatically funny.
