Wake Up, Make Up Sign

Text on the meme

WAKE UP! Skólavörðustígur MAKE UP!

What it means

A three-panel meme shows a bearded cartoon man saying “WAKE UP!”, followed by a street sign reading “Skólavörðustígur” in Iceland, and then the man saying “MAKE UP!”. The joke is a visual wordplay: the difficult Icelandic street name resembles a blend of “wake up” and “make up,” turning an unfamiliar place name into a silly reaction. It can be sent when someone notices an amusing or confusing sign.
