Puss in Boots Beats Avatar

Imagine taking over a decade to make a sequel just to get beat by Puss in Boots AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER PG-13 2022, Sci-fi/Adventure, 3h 12m 78% 93% TOMATOMETER AUDIENCE SCORE PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH PG 2022, Kids & family/Comedy, 1h 42m 97% 98% TOMATOMETER AUDIENCE SCORE

A comparison of two movie rating cards shows Avatar: The Way of Water beside Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The joke is that Avatar took over a decade to produce a sequel, yet the much smaller animated film received higher Tomatometer and audience scores. It is used as a reaction to mock an overhyped or long-awaited project being outperformed by an unexpected competitor.
