Russian Gas Is a Privilege

Text on the meme

RUSSIAN GAS FOR EUROPE IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A HUMAN RIGHT. РОССИЙСКИЙ ГАЗ ДЛЯ ЕВРОПЫ— ЭТО ПРИВИЛЕГИЯ, А НЕ ПРАВО.

What it means

The video starts with a cozy kitchen scene: a laptop plays a broadcast while a teddy bear sits nearby, then a young man prepares food. The mood abruptly shifts into red and purple club-like lighting, with hands adjusting a control, food heating on a rotating grill, and people dancing. It ends on a nighttime Moscow scene with the caption “RUSSIAN GAS FOR EUROPE IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A HUMAN RIGHT,” turning the escalating cooking-and-party montage into dark political propaganda humor about Europe’s dependence on Russian gas. The soundtrack is dlb’s “welcome to russia,” with electronic dance music creating an ominous, absurdly celebratory mood.
