What it means

A four-panel meme shows increasingly unconventional music-listening characters alongside lists of metal and rock bands. The joke contrasts mainstream or broadly popular bands with heavier, more serious metal choices, ending with Slipknot as the exaggerated final stage. It is used humorously to show how someone’s musical taste supposedly evolves into extreme metal.
