German Scientists Went to America
Random German after WW2: Where did all our scientists disappear to? The German scientists:
A black-and-white-to-colour clip shows astronauts in spacesuits performing on the Moon, with an American flag and a keyboard marked “UNITED STATES.” The captions joke that German scientists did not disappear after World War II—they were recruited by the United States and became astronauts. The footage is set to Rammstein’s “Amerika,” whose energetic industrial-metal sound makes the absurd reveal feel theatrical and triumphant.
