Looks Like Somebody We Know

Text on the meme

In Japanese folklore, Nigawarai are ugly creatures with horns and mouths with a permanent bitter smile. They are created out of the negative feelings of human beings (Illustration by Matthew Meyer) "Looks like somebody we know."

What it means

A man presents a framed illustration of a grotesque horned Nigawarai creature to an older woman, then reacts with a knowing, amused expression. The joke is that the ugly creature’s permanent bitter smile resembles someone they know, making this useful as a reaction to a bitter, unpleasant, or perpetually negative person.
