Text on the meme

Country in the south Tried to be independent Fought against US imperialism

What it means

A two-panel Wojak meme contrasts a country in the Global South that tried to become independent and fought against U.S. imperialism with a crying, furious reaction beside the Confederate flag. The joke sarcastically frames Confederate sympathizers as hypocritical, since they invoke independence while representing a pro-slavery secessionist cause.
