The Sounds of the Aggressor
Those can still be heard all over Ukraine. Every day and every night, with sounds of explosions, falling bombs, gunshots, shellings, tanks as well as crying people, children and pets But these are not the sounds of Ukraine. These are sounds of the aggressor. This is how Russia, who Invaded Ukraine, sounds. This is the anthem of Russia. True Russia.
A 145-second political video shows a stark red background with a black militaristic emblem featuring aircraft, bombs, missiles, an explosion, and a distorted human figure. The first caption describes the sounds heard across Ukraine, then reframes the aggressive industrial music as the true sound and anthem of Russia, making the joke work through grim irony and musical contrast. The soundtrack is Frank Klepacki’s “Grinder,” whose intense industrial rock mood evokes machinery, warfare, and aggression.
