I Want a Brick Parameter
Load the module with the i_want_a_brick=1 parameter to enable writes to bootloader partitions: insmod mtd-rw i_want_a_brick=1 The i_want_a_brick=1 parameter is mandatory. Without it, the subsequent mtd write commands will fail with: Could not open mtd device: BL2 Can't open device for writing! Verify the module loaded successfully: lsmod | grep mtd_rw
A screenshot of technical instructions for loading the mtd-rw module with the parameter “i_want_a_brick=1,” followed by an error message saying the device cannot be opened for writing. The joke is that the parameter name openly means “I want a brick,” humorously warning that flashing the bootloader may brick the device. It can be sent as a reaction to risky technical instructions or deliberately dangerous tinkering.
