Harry Potter Herpes Paper
Not a fan of the new Harry Potter book PAPER Herpes genitalis and the philosopher’s stance Kilian Dunphy ABSTRACT For many people, living with genital herpes generates not just episodic physical discomfort but recurrent emotional distress, centred on concerns about how to live and love safely without passing infection to others. This article considers the evidence on herpes transmission, levels of sexual risk, when the law has intervened and to what extent health professionals should advise with respect to these issues. It proposes a mechanism by which moral philosophy might provide a rational basis on which to counsel concerning sexual behaviour.
A social media post says “Not a fan of the new Harry Potter book” above a photographed academic paper titled “Herpes genitalis and the philosopher’s stance.” The joke is a dark pun: the fake book title combines a sexually transmitted infection with a Harry Potter-style subtitle, making the paper look like an absurd new wizarding-world publication. It is used as a reaction to mock an unexpectedly disturbing, bizarre, or disappointing sequel.
