Persona 3 Says Suicide Is Cool
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: PERSONA 3 Playstation 2 Atlus USA Atlus Co.
A rapid, stylized review clip from Persona 3 shows the blue-haired protagonist, surreal game imagery, and him raising an Evoker to his head. The deadpan voiceover claims that “Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 wants you to know suicide is cool,” turning the game’s dramatic summoning mechanic and dark themes into an absurdly edgy joke. The energetic music makes the self-harm imagery feel exaggerated and comedic, so the clip works as a reaction to something recklessly dark or “edgy.”
