Stop Learning Mahjong
STOP LEARNING MAHJONG • GAMES WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO INVOLVE MATH • SO MANY YAKU yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for anything more than TANYAO • Wanted to go for bigger hands anyway? We had a tool for that: It was called "GUESSING" • "I should build junchan, sanshoku, and iipeiko, and call riichi so I have a chance to get ura dora" - Statements dreamed up by the utterly Deranged LOOK at what Pros have been demanding your Respect for all this time with all the tiles & yaku we created for them (These are REAL hands, played by REAL players): ??????? ???????????????? "You have to discard the 7 sou or you'll end up in furiten" They have played us for absolute fools
A sarcastic mahjong meme lists increasingly complicated yaku and hand-building decisions, then shows real mahjong tiles with question marks. The joke is that mathematical tile patterns and expert terminology make the game seem absurdly overcomplicated, while “guessing” and forced discards lead to furiten. It is used as a reaction to confusing strategy, excessive optimization, or the realization that mahjong is much harder than expected.
