Rei's Based Comeback

Text on the meme

I'm so based, Ikari. Based on what, Rei??? Your mother.

What it means

Rei Ayanami tells Shinji Ikari that she is “based,” and when he asks what she is based on, she delivers the childish insult “Your mother.” The joke comes from combining Evangelion characters with an internet slang exchange and an unexpectedly blunt punchline.
