She Was a Girl, He Was a Boy
She was a girl. He was a boy.
Giorgia Meloni and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sit in a formal diplomatic room beneath captions from the “Sk8er Boi” lyric, with historical maps showing their associated regions and empires. The joke contrasts Meloni’s imagined Roman/European identity with Erdoğan’s Ottoman/Turkish one, presenting them as an absurd geopolitical version of a pop-song romance meme.
