Killdeer Fakes a Broken Wing
Oh, a killdeer nest! That's my nest. But hey, look over here! My wing is broken. It doesn't look very ... OH WOE! This delicate, finely plumed appendage once bore me aloft on the softest summer breeze. Yet now it lies in ruins; and I, a flighted bird, am tragically bound to the Earth! Mourn. Mourn, ye patrons of grassy parks, golf courses, and soccer fields. Never again shall my calls grace your ears from the heavens above. O cruel fate! O capricious Nature, that birthed this traveler of the open skies but denied her the power of flight. Okay, fine, I'll chase y- sucker
A killdeer dramatically pretends to have a broken wing while leading a fox away from its nest. The bird suddenly reveals the act by flying off and calling the fox a sucker, making this a funny reaction to exaggerated manipulation or fake helplessness.
