Astronaut Invents Space Yoyo Tricks

A bald astronaut floats inside the International Space Station and demonstrates yo-yo tricks in microgravity, naming them after orbital and satellite concepts. He calls one the “Tether Assist,” comparing the yo-yo’s string to satellite tether technology, while the yo-yo repeatedly swings, bounces, and returns. The humor comes from treating improvised space yo-yo maneuvers with serious scientific terminology. The clip is useful as an absurd reaction video about inventing grand names for ordinary actions. That's the sound of precision ball bearings. And because I'm in space and I can, I get to name these yoyo tricks as I invent them. I'm going to do orbit the Earth, and there we go. And it's orbiting slowly, but it's spinning fast. And then I'm going to do a round of the moon, look at that. And then I'm going to do the tether assist. Now normally we call that male on a trapeze, but it won't catch. And so it just bounces off the straight. And it's kind of like the tether technology we use for satellites and things. So I call that the tether assist and let's see if I can get it to come back now. There we go. Keeping it moving in an arc, there's two, there's three. Oh ho, how about that, let's see if I can get it to come back.
