A Team Fortress 2 Spy appears beneath a list of World War I commanders and leaders, mostly French, including a man named John French. As the tense orchestral music plays, the Spy reacts dramatically, making the spoken line “It could be in this very room. It could be you. It could be me.” sound like he is suspiciously realizing that the subject could be himself. The joke relies on the literal surname “French” and the Spy’s theatrical reaction.
