Meeting an Online Friend

Text on the meme

me and that online friend if we had possibility to meet each other

What it means

A nostalgic video montage shows two young people meeting in person, walking together, eating burgers, and talking in a diner. The caption imagines finally meeting an online friend, while Cigarettes After Sex’s dreamy song “Apocalypse” makes the awkward fantasy feel romantic, intimate, and bittersweet. It is used as a reaction to online friendships that feel emotionally close despite never meeting.
