Vim Charityware Manual

VIM REFERENCE MANUAL by Bram Moolenaar uganda Uganda copying copyright license SUMMARY Vim is Charityware. You can use and copy it as much as you like, but you are encouraged to make a donation for needy children in Uganda. Please see kcc below or visit the ICCF web site, available at these URLs: https://iccf-holland.org/ https://www.vim.org/iccf/ https://www.iccf.nl/ You can also sponsor the development of Vim. Vim sponsors can vote for features. See sponsor. The money goes to Uganda anyway. The Open Publication License applies to the Vim documentation, see manual-copyright.

A screenshot of the Vim reference manual shows the “Charityware” summary, asking users to donate to needy children in Uganda while explaining Vim’s licensing and sponsorship. The joke comes from treating a normal software manual as a suspicious donation appeal, making it useful as a reaction to scam-like messages or dubious links.
