Disinfecting Pericles Too Late
Disinfecting Pericles who died from the plague in 429 B.C. It’s a little late now.
A person in protective clothing sprays disinfectant at a statue of Pericles in an urban courtyard. The joke is that Pericles died from the plague in 429 B.C., so disinfecting him now is absurdly late. It is used as a reaction to belated or useless efforts.
