Raise the Bar Through Example

I was usually best dressed on my team. It's not like it was hard. Every day, there was sure to be someone who would ask me “why so dressed up? Where are you going?” 😅 I think everyone thought I would give up eventually and start dressing like a slob too. But the most amazing thing started to happen over the years. I didn’t start dressing down like everyone else. Instead my team members starting dressing a little better. I noticed the same thing would happen with code. When it was well written with care others would follow and step up their efforts. Choose to influence the bar. Be the engineer who dresses a little better and fixes broken windows. #raisethebar #programming

An engineer shares a social media post about dressing professionally at work and gradually influencing teammates to improve their own appearance. She compares this to writing careful, high-quality code: setting a better standard encourages others to follow and fix weaknesses. The meme is used as a motivational reaction about leading by example and raising the bar.
