The Puzzling Eban Numbers
Some numbers are odd: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 ... Some are even: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 ... And then there are the puzzling “eban” numbers: 2, 4, 6, 30, 32, 34, 36, 40 ...
A black background lists odd numbers, even numbers, and then a strange sequence called “eban” numbers. The punchline is a crude phonetic joke: “eban” resembles the Russian profanity “ёбан,” making the supposedly puzzling sequence an absurd reaction meme.
