Evangelion Explains Santa Claus

Text on the meme

Santa Claus isn’t real. Grow up, idiot Shinji! We’re the ones who buy all of your gifts. No, you’re wrong! Why would someone else eat his cookies and milk?

What it means

Misato, Asuka, Rei, and Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion argue about whether Santa Claus is real. Shinji’s desperate insistence that Santa must exist collapses when the others point out that parents buy the gifts and eat the cookies and milk, making the scene an absurd Christmas reaction meme. The dramatic anime dialogue and accompanying music heighten the comedic overreaction. EN: Misato, Asuka, Rei, and Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion argue about whether Santa Claus is real.
