Charcoal Battery Charges an iPhone
TODAY, WE'LL USE THIS TO MAKE A BATTERY THE BATTERY IS PRETTY SIMPLE TO MAKE THIN LAYER OF STEEL WOOL AND SOME GROUND BATTERIES LIKE THIS ARE USEFUL BECAUSE IT THE EACH BATTERY GET MY IPHONE TO CHARGE
A lab demonstrator assembles several improvised batteries from aluminum foil, paper towel, steel wool, and ground charcoal, then connects them with wires and alligator clips to an old iPhone. The exaggerated homemade solution to charging a phone creates an absurd, pseudo-instructional science-video joke. Today I'm going to show you how you can charge your iPhone using aluminum foil and some charcoal. We'll use these to make a battery, which can come in handy if the power goes out at home and your phone's almost dead. The battery's pretty simple to make. Start with aluminum foil, wrap it in paper towel, then add a thin layer of steel wool and some ground charcoal before soaking it with a basic electrolyte solution. Batteries like this are useful because they can be made ahead of time and stored indefinitely. Just add the electrolyte when you're ready to use them. The battery works through to an electrochemical reaction between aluminum and oxygen in the air. Each battery produces around 1.2 volts, so I had to make several and connect them together to get my iPhone to charge.
