In the interview, he explains that he learned the idea from playing NASCAR 2005 on the GameCube as a child and simply committed to it, making the real-life stunt funny and astonishing. The audio combines his excited post-race explanation with racing engines and crowd noise, emphasizing how absurdly a video-game trick worked in a real race.

Chippin Phoenix take a look at what he did. I have never seen anything like that before in my life Played a lot of NASCAR 2005 on the GameCube with Chad growing up and you can get away with it And I never knew if it would actually work and I eight years old and I grabbed fifth gear I asked off a two on the last lap if we needed it and we did I couldn't say all who was leading and And I just made the choice. I grabbed fifth gear down the back and full committed. One thing I guess to all, I basically let go of the wheel. Just hope I didn't catch the turn for access gate or something crazy, but I was willing to do it.
