Girls and Boys on Their Birthdays

Text on the meme

Girls in their birthday Boys in their birthday

What it means

The clip contrasts a girl casually celebrating her birthday by showing off her manicured nails and phone with a boy alone in a kitchen, carefully lighting a single candle on a small chocolate cake. The joke is the stereotypical difference between extravagant or performative birthday energy and a lonely, understated celebration. XXXTENTACION’s melancholic song “Jocelyn Flores” makes the boys’ scene feel especially sad and ironic.
