Don’t Cry, I Am Just a Fish

Text on the meme

dont cry I am just a FISH

What it means

A grayscale animated meme shows a gloomy black-haired anime-style schoolgirl standing in a classroom while a fish swims across a speech bubble reading “dont cry / I am just a / FISH.” The absurdly literal, emotionally deadpan fish and the melancholic Surf Curse song “Freaks” turn the scene into a reaction for awkward sadness, nihilistic humor, or comforting someone with nonsense.
