What it means

A four-panel comparison shows the sanitized pop-culture and Disney versions of Robin Hood alongside historical and more politically pointed portrayals. The joke contrasts the familiar idea of stealing from the rich with the original legend’s links to the Crusades, royal succession, government taxation, and a furry Disney adaptation. It is used as a humorous reaction to exaggerated differences between a popular character and his older source material.
