Florida Is the New Rome
FLORIDA IS THE NEW ROME
The video presents Florida as a modern version of Rome: it opens with Florida’s flag and slogan, shows Florida on a map, cuts to Italy and a Florida political speech, then shows ancient Roman ruins and a map of the divided Roman Empire. The joke exaggerates Florida’s culture and political image by treating the state as the successor to the Roman Empire, while the epic march makes the comparison sound absurdly grand and militaristic. Set to Jeff van Dyck’s “Warrior March,” the dramatic music turns a geography-and-history comparison into an overblown patriotic meme reaction.
