What it means

A blurry cartoonish figure stares intensely beneath the caption “when I’m in a grain eating competition and my opponent is.” The joke implies the opponent is an intimidating expert or unusually formidable competitor, making the narrator nervous about a ridiculous contest. It is used as an absurd reaction meme for facing someone unexpectedly skilled or powerful.
