There's been something I should get off my chest. Nothing. My grandpa remembers nothing about me. This happening has affected my mental health a lot nowadays. I remember older days, when we hung out as a family. Well, finally, those days have been rid from his memory. Well, I got quite sad when I heard the news. I'm still in... shock. The only thing the doctors say he remembers is the song Wildfire by John Mayer. That's been his favorite....forever. In the time I knew him, he was already a little bit....odd. My parents told me at one point that he would wear....a sock on his head, just for chuckles. He'd also hide in a drawer my family had (don't get me started on how he fit under, let alone INSIDE one of those things). Life was under control though, he still remembered us, and what we did. Out of the blue, he got diagnosed. This broke all our hearts. Of the family, I think my Grandma was most disheartened. The whole family was in shock and sadness too, though. Ordinary, plain old shock. We still feel it today. And well, I do. I feel this. It's just so disorienting. If I come off as someone mean, it's just I'm still in...shock I guess. I love you, Gramps.
What it means

A screenshot of a Reddit post in which someone mournfully explains that their grandfather remembers nothing about them, except the song “Wildfire” by John Mayer. The increasingly strange memories about wearing a sock on his head and hiding in a drawer make the story absurd, while the repeated “shock” and the song reference form the punchline. It is shared as a dark, surreal reaction to confusion, bizarre family stories, or pretending not to understand something.
