Refusing to Read Translations
I refuse to read translations, I read everything in its original language even if I don't speak it. I have read the entirety of Les misérables in French, Divine Comedy in Italian, Don Quijote in Spanish and Brothers Karamazov in Russia, without understanding a single word. fuck translations and fuck english, that is all I have to say
A screenshot of an anonymous forum post mocks an absurd commitment to reading famous books in their original languages without understanding them. The punchline is the exaggerated pride in refusing translations, ending with profanity directed at English itself. It is used as a sarcastic reaction to language elitism, literary snobbery, or someone making an unnecessarily difficult choice.
